On Monday, April 4, 2022, around 3:00 p.m., a Brightline train crashed with a car on the rails in Aventura. Surveillance footage from a neighboring business shows the motorist of the gray car swerving around a white SUV, then onto the rails and into the direction of the train. The vehicle appears to have driven in the westbound lane against traffic and across the eastbound gate, which seemed to be broken. Aventura police were on the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly after 3 p.m. near 21500 E. Dixie Highway, exactly on the border separating Hallandale Beach and Aventura. Parts of the car, including what seems to be its engine and gearbox, were seen scattered over the pavement. According to witnesses, the driver, who has yet to be named, was able to just walk away from the collision and was taken to a local hospital. The automobile was eventually taken away from the site. Several cars have attempted to circumvent the safety gates in recent months. Passengers on a Brightline train were stranded for more than two hours last week when it crashed with a tractor trailer towing a Tesla. Drivers were advised to seek an alternative route by officials.

On Thursday, March 3, 2022, around 1:30 a.m., officials reported three individuals were killed in a sequence of incidents involving 17 cars on a section of Interstate 95 in Florida in which visibility was extremely low due to fog and smoke from vegetation-controlled burns. According to Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Kim Montes, the collisions began south of Daytona Beach. She stated there were four distinct incidents on the northbound side involving 11 automobiles, and one crash on the southbound side involving six vehicles. A traffic camera filmed a tractor trailer that was engulfed in flames and exploded, sending flames and smoke aloft. An automobile was crushed beneath the front of a tractor trailer, according to other footage from the area. Interstate 95, which runs from South Florida to Maine, is the principal north-south highway route along the United States’ East Coast. The smoke from nearby controlled burns lingered, and the National Weather Service had issued a dense fog alert for coastal Volusia County near Edgewater, warning of extremely limited visibility on Twitter. Such situations can be disconcerting for drivers going at motorway speeds on the freeway. According to Montes, two of the dead were driving south, while the third perished in a northbound accident. Multiple people were brought to a Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, and a youngster who was evacuated to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children was in stable condition.

On Monday, February 14, 2022, a car crash and shooting occurred at 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near the exit for Northwest 103rd Street, leaving one lady seriously injured. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue attended and transported a female to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The woman was first thought to have died as a result of her injuries, but authorities revealed Monday afternoon that she was still alive. It’s unclear if her injuries were caused by the gunshot or the collision, and there’s no word on why she was shot. During the investigation, a section of the freeway was stopped for hours, forcing northbound cars to detour at Northwest 79th Street. The woman’s automobile was spotted on the side of the road near the Northwest 103rd Street exit, with a yellow sheet covering the driver’s side window. The lanes reopened just before 1 p.m. According to authorities, the second automobile involved in the incident fled the scene. In addition to the accident, the woman’s vehicle was shot. On Monday February 14, 2022, just before 2 a.m., in the 20700 block of Northwest 20th Avenue, a lady was killed, and two others were injured in an accident that left both vehicles seriously wrecked. According to cops, a white Mercedes SUV was traveling east on Northwest 207th Avenue when it collided with a silver Kia Optima heading west on 207th Street. According to officers on the site, two sisters have been in the Kia. The driver died at the spot, while the passenger was transported to a nearby hospital in critical illness. A female passenger was thrown from the Mercedes and ended up with a broken sternum, but she is expected to recover. According to police, the man who drove the Mercedes attempted to carry her away while fleeing the scene of the incident, but ultimately abandoned her. Detectives say they have just enough DNA evidence at the scene to identify him, and he will almost certainly face charges. The Mercedes was abandoned overturned for hours before being taken away, and glass was scattered over the roadway as authorities searched for clues. Attorneys representing the victim’s family have subsequently been able to learn more. According to the attorneys, it was a minor speeding at more than 90 mph. Parked automobiles in the area of the incident were also damaged, and traffic was obstructed for much of the morning in the residential neighborhood, which is adjacent to the Robert Renick Educational Center and Hard Rock Stadium. Before 10 a.m., the automobiles involved in the incident were taken away. According to police, speeding through the residential neighborhood was most likely a factor in the crash.

On Saturday January 22, 2022, at the crossing of Northwest Third Street and 11th Avenue two women in a red car, who were both in their 60s, were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition. A 63-year-old woman was killed, and a friend was injured. The second lady is in serious condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital after suffering head injuries, a broken spine, a lacerated spleen, and hip fractures in the incident. Following a tragic hit-and-run collision in Miami’s Little Havana area, a 17-year-old was detained, and two additional suspects were identified by investigators, Miami police reported Thursday. Surveillance cameras at a nearby gas station captured video of the suspects, who police claimed were in a stolen white Land Rover that crashed with the 63-year-old woman’s vehicle. They suspect the Land Rover driver ran a stop sign before the fatal T-bone crash. According to the report, the victim’s vehicle then sideswiped two parked vehicles on the east side of the road prior to rear-ending another parked vehicle, resulting in a chain-reaction accident involving two additional parked cars. The 17-year-old teen appeared in juvenile court before a judge, and after the charges were read, his mother stated that she would hire her own attorney instead of accepting a court-appointed Public Defender. The state stated it was evaluating the case and that if they decided to make a “direct filing,” they could prosecute him as an adult. He has another hearing scheduled on February 16th.
