Crash Between Semi and Bus Leaves 12 Passengers Injured

On Friday, February 25, 2022, around 6:45am, a bus was carrying 39 workers when he failed to stop and crashed. The truck was driving west on CR-354 when it hit a stop sign, according to FHP. A full-size bus carrying 39 passengers was traveling north on SR-51 when it collided with a semi-truck. The semi-truck driver was penalized for failure to stop at a stop sign, according to the report. The incident caused the semi to overturn and the trailer to split from the rig, according to FHP. With critical but non-life-threatening injuries, 12 patients were taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville. The accident occurred at Mayo, just south of Live Oak. The migrant laborers were heading to a farm to help with harvesting. Employees at Shands said they received an alert ordering them to be ready to welcome patients.
